Eva Hielscher

Film Scholar, Curator and Moving Image Archivist
Eva Hielscher is a film scholar, curator, and moving image archivist. She holds a PhD in art sciences from Ghent University and studied media culture, film history as well as preservation and presentation of the moving image in Weimar, Utrecht and Amsterdam. Before her PhD research on interwar city symphonies, she worked as a film archivist and assistant curator at the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision. She is co-editor of The City Symphony Phenomenon: Cinema, Art, and Urban Modernity between the Wars (2018) and Color Mania: The Material of Color in Photography and Film (2019). In 2018 she joined the FilmColors research team at the University of Zurich and was a guest curator for the exhibition Color Mania at Fotomuseum Winterthur in 2019. Currently, she is working as a film restorer at the Friedrich-Wilhelm- Murnau-Foundation.
